I went to the 18th Keinosuke Sato Awards Ceremony

Blog

Fontworks received the "The 18th Keinosuke Sato Award" from the Japan Typography Association.

Already It is published in Announcement However, the reasons for receiving the award are as follows.

Fontworks established in 1993. As design work Styles are changing, typefaces such as "Rodin" and "Matisse" have been provided to respond to this. We have supported graphic design during the transitional period from phototypesetting to digital.

In 2002, we started LETS (Leading Edge Type Solution), an annual flat-rate service as a new method of providing typefaces. The system is now an industry standard and is a big addition to many foundries both domestically and internationally.

In addition, an attempt to provide typefaces from a wide perspective and a flexible attitude, such as aggressive development of various media content to print media, "mojimo" that selects and provides typefaces for specific purposes such as comics, It seems that it plays a role in widely connecting not only designers but also the general public.

We were awarded the award for being commended by the association because of its attitude of continuing to develop the common human property of letters as a communication material suitable for the times.

It was a great honor for us to appreciate our corporate attitude and our efforts so far, and it was very encouraging to be a member of Fontworks.

I went to the award ceremony!

On April 19, 2019, the award ceremony was held at the Waterasu Common Hall in Ochanomizu, Tokyo, and I participated as a photographer.

The sound of an awards ceremony already made my heart pound... (even though I wasn't going to give a speech).

However, I was excited as I headed to the venue.

First, we will announce the winners of the Japan Typography Yearbook 2019.

The grand prix is "Kyushu Logo Mark VI" Mr. Gioru Shigemura and the student award is "Yumejuya" Misato Taniguchi (Osaka University of Arts).

The Kyushu logo mark, and Fontworks, which is headquartered in Fukuoka. What a connection to Kyushu! Happy.

Then to the award ceremony for the 18th Keinosuke Sato Award.

Following the individual award winner, Mr. Heiyoshi Harata, Fontworks was commended in the corporate and group divisions.

We received “Japan Typography Yearbook 2019” (published by Pai International) at the award ceremony. The content about Fontworks is featured over 4 pages. After that, the "selection record" is posted, but I read it very interestingly.

We also received the valuable "Keinosuke Sato Memorial Magazine". Thank you!

Fontworks will continue to open up the future and possibilities of fonts.

Please continue to look forward to Fontworks!
