What is AtypI

AtypI (Association Typographique Internationale) is a non-profit association that carries out various activities to improve typography. We hold conferences in different international cities each year to provide participants with an exciting environment. This is a place where you can freely discuss all fields related to typography, from academic themes to highly entertaining themes. We offer opportunities for all to meet and interact with professionals in a wide range of fields, discover new things, learn and develop new businesses. (Excerpt from AtypI official guide)

About the conference

Fontworks was born in 1993 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018. Fontworks, which was born in the presence of digital fonts, has not only provided a variety of high-quality fonts, but has also been constantly advancing and developing with technological changes. No matter what kind of media changes, we will continue to pursue what is suitable for that environment.

This time, "Guidelines for choosing better fonts in the AR environment" presented at AtypI 2019 will be discussed with Hirose Lab, Graduate School of Information Engineering, University of Tokyo, Hirose Lab This is a progress report of joint research on what kind of viewpoint to select fonts when presenting character information in an augmented reality environment.

We would appreciate if you could feel the enthusiasm for font research and development in response to technological changes and feel that FontWorks fonts can be used with peace of mind.
