Fontworks Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO Ai Harada, hereinafter Fontworks) celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 9, 2023 (Wednesday). We are planning a project that everyone can enjoy with gratitude for the 30th anniversary.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of our founding
Founded in Fukuoka in 1993, Fontworks was founded under the tagline "Freedom with letters, more and more", and not only develops innovative and universal typefaces, but also provides the industry's first annual flat-rate font service "Fontworks". LETS (Leading Edge Type Solution)" has been launched, and we have made efforts to open up the industry.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your support, which made it possible for us to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of our founding, we will develop a project that will allow everyone to know more about Fontworks and enjoy it, with the next year as the 30th anniversary year.
Established the 30th anniversary logo
We have developed a 30th anniversary logo in order to continue to take on new challenges and to further focus on "making the creativity of those who express themselves more vivid through moji."
The developers involved in the development were Fontworks Type Design Director Joachim Müller-Lancé and Takram Japan Co., Ltd., a design innovation firm active around the world.
For this collaboration, we developed new software that allows anyone to design interactively, and used that software to create logos.
In this system, while retaining the essential elements of the Fontworks corporate logo, the creators themselves aim to give unexpected new inspiration. (Details of the production process and software will be released in the future.)
In addition, the European text next to the logo uses the new typeface “Yo One” designed by Ransei (scheduled to be released in the fall of 2023).
Upcoming release schedule
Various releases are planned with gratitude for the 30th anniversary.
1. Shigenobu Fujita Book "Tsukushi Typeface and Shigenobu Fujita"
A book by Shigenobu Fujita, the typeface design director who works on Fontworks' flagship font "Tsukushi typeface series", will be released by Pai International Co., Ltd. A book that understands all of the Tsukushi typeface, including "Tsukushi Mincho". From the concept of the typeface to the attention to detail, Shigenobu Fujita will explain and illustrate in his own words. Also, as a purchaser benefit, Tsukushi new typeface will be distributed for a limited time.

2. Fontworks' first original European text "Yo One"
Fontworks' first original European typeface, created by typeface design director Joachim Müller-Lancé. The super family of 156 typefaces will finally be released as a new typeface from Fontworks LETS this fall.

Typeface name “Yo One”: 156 typefaces in total
A warm, modern and clean European font with a "neo-humanist" design concept.
It is a superfamily consisting of six font families in total, divided into two groups: serif and sans serif. Each group has 3 families: Roman and Italic, and ``Linear,'' ``Semi,'' and ``Contrast,'' with a total of 13 weights ranging from the thinnest to the thickest. This typeface is simple, easy to read, and can be used for a wide variety of purposes.
3. mojimo x flop design collaboration
Collaboration between popular font designer Flop Design and mojimo. It will be available from September 2023 on mojimo-plus for a limited time.
