Provide fonts used in competition

As a result of the consultation from the youth Monozukuri Competition Graphic Design Competition Committee before this competition, as a fontworks, youths who are aiming to become more graphic designers are interested in various typefaces essential for design. We decided that we would like to bring this font and use it for future activities, and we decided to provide it.
A total of 42 OpenType fonts, which are the basic typefaces of Mincho, Kaku Gothic, and Maru Gothic, were installed on all machines used in the “Graphic Design Occupation Competition” out of 14 types of competition, and the competition was conducted. We had you work on production of problem.
In the competition of graphic design occupations, a task production work for designing common competition tasks that have been asked within a prescribed time (5 hours 30 minutes) and a presentation summarizing the main points such as the design concept and work content of the work (2 ~ 3 minutes) was evaluated.
It was a competition in which youths, who will be responsible for the future of Japanese design, feel more reliable because of the rich variety of designs created by each athlete from a single competition task. Fontworks will continue to contribute to society through characters, which are a way of communicating our hearts.

"Graphic design" is a creative work that directly relates to human sensibilities that can create "color" in life through richer expressions, targeting all visible things. Today, along with the digitization of industry, we are making rapid progress in close relation to the digital world both in terms of expression and production.

In this competition, competition issues are set based on the standards and contents of the international competition. Not only the operation speed and proficiency level of a computer, but also under the given severe conditions, understanding and compositional power to create a design that captures the task intent, and presentation power to create empathy are comprehensively required.

In this tournament, the competition issue of the graphic design occupation at the 41st World Skills London 2011 (WorldSkills London 2011) held in London, England in October 2011 (patch made from recycled old clothes such as jeans, patch as a promotional tool to appeal the fashion of work design, posters and press promotional Advertisement as a base to create), arrange the competition was held in the national tournament for. There are things that I find difficult for athletes of this age, such as time limits and detailed specification of competition tasks, but it is essential knowledge and skills to work in this world. I think that this is a place where you can make full use of the knowledge and skills you have learned up to now to fully present interesting ideas for your target.
Evaluation items include subjective evaluation that asks for designability such as ideas and originality, and objective evaluation that determines whether the data is appropriate or meets the required specifications. For objective evaluation, only the correct or incorrect score is scored, but in subjective evaluation, based on the announcement of the design concept at the presentation, it is correct as a creation method, how the color scheme is selected, the theory I am scoring the production process such as whether the design is backed by. In some cases, we have adjusted the scoring distribution from the evaluation items of the international competition in consideration of the Japanese curriculum and preparation period for the competition, but I think that it may be inferior to the quality of the world.

It can be seen that the level of submitted works has increased as the number of competitions has increased. This time, in addition to the standard fonts on the personal computer, the major factor is that we prepared the typefaces that are generally needed for graphic work with multiple weights for competition. In the past competitions, I didn't seem to be so conscious of the typesetting, including typography, but I clearly understood that I was concerned about how to use the characters in this competition. There were many places where study was still needed, but it was the opinion of all the jury members that the athletes chose and placed the typeface as a point. I would like to continue supporting young people's skill improvement by creating an environment to tackle competition issues such as DTP and by appealing the competition.

The design was created so that the concept of "fusion and anticipation" could be expressed in the two types of sales promotion tools (posters and Advertisement for press) that were issued as competition tasks. Regarding the designed posters, the number of characters is small, but they are all important information, so put them on a white background so that they are easy to read. In addition, the contrast with jeans with a multi-colored design gives the jeans its strength. For the press, it is conscious of having the text read by arranging the text in the center and moving the line of sight from the subject image. The font used is thin Tsukushi Gothic, expressing the simplicity of the overall design and the seriousness of the brand concept.
