Fontworks announces the 20th anniversary of the flagship font “Tsukushi Typeface Series” and book release

press release

Fontworks Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO Ai Harada, hereinafter Fontworks)'s flagship font "Tsukushi Typeface Series" has celebrated its 20th anniversary since its birth in 2004. On Friday, January 19, 2024, the book “Tsukushi Typeface and Shigenobu Fujita” will be released by Pi International Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Pi International).

What is Tsukushi typeface?

Tsukushi Mincho was created in 2004 by Fontworks typeface design director Shigenobu Fujita. The history of the Tsukushi typeface series began here.

The Tsukushi typeface features a typeface design that incorporates newness while reproducing the bleeding of metal type, and utilizes the original shape of the letters rather than being homogeneous. It creates a sense of nostalgia and warmth, making viewers feel nostalgic. Not only is each letter beautiful, but when the letters are put together, the letters seem to breathe together.

Since its debut in 2004, highly specialized designs such as `` Tsukushi Gothic,'' Tsukushi A MaruGothic,'' ``Tsukushi Q Mincho,'' and Tsukushi AM Gothic'' have ranged from Mincho fonts, Gothic fonts, and Maru Gothic fonts to Heading fonts and newspaper fonts. We currently have a total of 14 series. This typeface series is loved by many people and used in a wide range of genres including books, television, movies, Advertisement, product Packaging, and lyric videos.

We are planning to release <Tsukushi RM Min> in the spring of 2024. Please look forward to the future Tsukushi typeface.

<Comment from Shigenobu Fujita>

It has been over 20 years since the Tsukushi typeface started creating < Tsukushi Mincho-L>, and we are still creating new Tsukushi typefaces. One of the characteristics of the Tsukushi typeface is that the people who use it find it ``nice''.

< Tsukushi Old Gothic >, which is loved by many people, will soon become a complete weight family. In addition, the kana and Western languages of ``Tsukushi F Vintage Mincho'' are sure to bring you surprises that you have never felt before. 〈Tsukushi AN Maru Go OV〉 will surprise you with the characters that have an unprecedented impact and artistic feel. Please look forward to the Tsukushi typeface, which will become even more powerful.
